HP Bathroom Remodel in Santa Clarita CA

This is a Bathroom Remodel in Santa Clarita where we changed a tub shower combination into a walk in shower.  We removed the old tub, builder grade cabinets, lighting and shower controls so we could we arrange the bathroom differently. These are dark chocolate barrel front cabinets for the vanity with a very unique granite to finish it off.

In the shower we used travertine with different sizes, shapes and a border tile.  If you look close you can see that the tile grout lines all line up throughout the shower.  The tile is laid perfectly plumb and level from tile to tile.

The owner chose a Moen system in brushed nickel.

This system has a temperature control that you can leave set at your desired temperature and use a separate valve to turn the water on or off.  Each of the three valves controls each separate fixture.  One for the overhead, one for the body sprays and one for the hand held.   You can use one at a time or all of them at once.

The benches have become very popular for either shaving or just resting.  The hand held makes it easy for bench showering and or shaving.  The benches and hand held's have also been great for Seniors who might need a little help while taking a shower.

The glass we use is 3/8" frameless with two heavy hinges and your choice of hardware finish.  This one is finished in brushed nickel.  These glass doors and walls are much easier to keep clean than the traditional framed glass.

The 'Mold Mess' finished

So here are some pictures of the finished Bathroom Remodel in Valencia, CA.  We removed all the mold and damaged lumber, then started fresh.

We used all wood cabinets with under mount sinks and granite counter tops.  The doors and drawers all have 'soft close' hardware which is great for the early morning noise makers and also helps the cabinets stay in perfect condition for many years.  The home owner chose brushed nickel for their fixtures.

We removed the tub shower combo and went with a six foot by five foot walk in shower.

We used a seamless shower glass wall and door.  They look very nice and are much easier to keep clean.  We matched the brushed nickel handle and hinges with the rest of the fixtures.    The wall niches are sized to your choice, giving you a place to store your shower supplies keeping them off of the floor.

We installed a separate temperature control valve which allows you to leave the one water temperature control valve set where you like it and just turn on the shower with another valve.  Also, there is another valve that controls the hand held fixture next to the bench.

The hand held is on an adjustable slide rod.  The hand held makes it very easy for leg shaving or body washing while sitting on the bench.

Large bench for washing or just relaxing.

The tile work in the shower really shows the attention to detail we strive for.

Week 2. Mold Gone. Fresh Start.

So, this is the 2nd week on the remodel that started as the 'Mold Mess'.  We have removed all the old framing and now started fresh this week.  We have 'hot mopped' to seal the shower floor and bench area.  Sonny and Rob floated the walls earlier in the week and have been busy setting tile.  You are only as good as your guys and we have the best.  Pure artists that care and take pride in their work.  We have also finished the new electrical, plumbing and built the new closet wall to replace the old mirrored sliding doors.  We installed the cabinets and ordered the new counter top.  So this weeks progress was good.  I will update again next week!

Mold Mess

This is the bathroom we are currently remodeling.  The homeowners had the shower and tub remodeled in 2003.  Unfortunately, the local contractor chose to install a tub that should never be used in this application.  As you can see in the close up shots, there is not a tile flange on this tub.  The contractor tried to add a tile flange by using silicone.  The silicone wore out consequently letting the water that runs down the shower walls, hit the tub and run behind the tub instead of inside.  Over the last few years the water has destroyed the framing and caused massive mold damage.  We removed all of the damaged lumber and reframed the area.  I will keep you updated on the progress!
